Digital Citizenship for Teachers

Digital citizenship for teachers is very similar to digital citizenship for students. There are pretty much the same standards however it is obvious that teachers are held to a higher standard. Not only should their personal social networking sites reflect professionalism, the words and statements that they make should also reflect this professionalism. Teachers should not risk setting a negative example for students for anything that they post. As a Christian, these principles should not be something out of the ordinary. We are called to be loving and to speak and behave in a Christ-like manner. This should be reflected in all areas of our lives as well as on the internet or in cyber space.

DIGITAL citizenship for STUDENTS

Digital citizenship for students consists of the students understanding the proper etiquette and behavior when on the web. When students post on blogs or social networking sites they need to be aware of what they are saying and how they are behaving in general. Not only can acting inapropriately on the web negatively effect their future jobs and professional areas of their life, it can also effect their relationships with others. Simply because students are online does not give them the excuse to say things that they wouldn't normally say.
