My name is Chelsie and I am 19 years old. I am technically a junior in college, but I have only actually been in college for two years. I am originally from Olathe, KS but my family moved to Omaha in April of last year. That was a huge adjustement for me. Coming to college was difficult in itself, but having my family move to the same city as me was hard. Because they are now in Omaha I am left without a home in Kansas and that is where all of my best friends live. However, I have really been enjoying having my family so close. I work around 25 hours a week at a corporate office building for a pet care company. I just sit around typing, emailing, calling people, and mailing letters to consumers.
Being a teacher is something that I have been interested in for a long time. But what really made me decide on teaching as a major is my desire to help and love kids who are neglected or ignored. At first, I looked into social work but the more that I looked into it the more I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. As a teacher I hope to love and influence kids in a positive way.
